We’re going to South Africa! My dad and I are leaving on March 1st to attend the Rapid Lion South African International Film Festival! We hope to see, family, friends and friends of friends at the screenings!

This is seriously a full circle moment and a dream come true. When I was living in South Africa in 2005 and witnessed a house robbery, the seed of this story was planted. During that time I also followed my cousin Mosese Semenya around on several of his sets while he directed music videos and was so inspired, that the idea to one day direct my own project was born.

Unfortunately, racism and homophobia are still big issues in South Africa and on the continent as a whole, so screening ELEVATE  at the Market Theatre in Jo’burg is going to be a very interesting and telling experience.

The Market Theatre, where the film festival will be held was opened in 1976, operating as an independently, anti racist theatre during the country’s apartheid regime. This is more than I could have ever imagined and I am very excited!

There will be two screenings:

March 7th @ 10:am, and Friday March 8th ar 5:50pm.

Please join us, I can’t wait to see you all! TICKETS:
